It Is worth paying a visit to the Archaeological and Folklore Museum situated in the parish of Lieni of Ano Symi. It is housed in masion where the visitor can admire noteworthy Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine works all as folklore material.The museum’s entrance leads to a courtyard paved mosaics, where ancient and Early Christian sculptures are displayed.
The museum’s first room is dedicated to ancient times and includes heads of statues, ancient grave stales, etc. The second room refers to monuments of the Early Christian, Byzantine and post—Byzantine period.
The third room is dedicated to post Byzantine art and presents icons from this period, small relics manuscript books, etc. In the fourth room there are depictions of the island on travellers’ maps (15th-17th century), ship models, etc.
At last the fifth room presents folkloric material reflecting the island’ past.
